Ofer Ketter, a longtime submersible expert and co-founder of the private sub company Sub-Merge, suggested that the implosion force that caused Titan to collapse inward in milliseconds under the intense pressure of the sea may have reduced some of the ship’s components to “dust” in an interview with the New York Post.

Ketter asserts that “it makes perfect sense” that the material it was constructed from prevented the pressure chamber where the passengers are sitting from withstanding it. And that’s exactly what collapsed and disintegrated. Everything else that was discovered was either made of titanium or maybe other steel.”

Rear Admiral John Mauger of the US Coast Guard spoke earlier on Thursday during a press briefing about the likelihood of finding the remains and submersible components.

According to Mauger, the debris is consistent with the ship imploding catastrophically in that hostile environment on the ocean floor.
